In Federal District Court on July 20, 2010, the ATF won a conviction from an Austin jury that defies logic and reason. In a trial before Federal Judge Sam Sparks, government lawyers conceded Texas resident Paul Copeland did not know his buyer was an illegal alien, but the jury they should convict him anyway because he “had reasonable cause to believe” he was selling to an illegal alien because the two men and a boy who were present at his table at the time of the sale: 1) were Hispanic, 2) spoke Spanish, and 3) wore cowboy clothing. And the jury did as asked. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Freel acted as lead prosecutor in the case.

The firearm transaction at issue occurred on January 16, 2010, at a gunshow at the North Austin Events Center, at 10601 N. Lamar Blvd., in Austin, Texas. Undercover ATF agents followed Mr. Huerta, his son, and another Hispanic male, Hipolito Aviles, around the “Texas Gunshow” that day, and claimed to observe Huerta’s transaction. Austin P.D. used Copeland’s case as the reason to close down the gunshow, leading to a protest by Austin residents in front of APD headquarters on January 25.

Mr. Copeland is a 56 year old Cedar Creek resident and Vietnam veteran who liked to buy, sell, and trade firearms as a hobby. On January 16, however, he had the misfortune to sell a handgun to Leonel Huerta Sr., who spoke both English and Spanish. Huerta Sr. negotiated his purchase from Copeland in English, showing Copeland his Texas Driver’s License. At Copeland’s trial Huerta admitted on the witness stand, that he is in the country illegally, (Huerta Sr. had previously admitted this fact to Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) Special Agent Leo Buentello). ATF Agent Shawn Kang claimed he saw Huerta later hand off the gun to Aviles. Despite these admissions, Huerta Sr. was never arrested, charged, or deported. Instead, his presence at the gunshow was used to entrap an American citizen into an unwitting violation of a federal gun control law. Huerta Sr., who is a resident of the City of Austin, appeared as a witness at the trial, admitted he was in the country illegally before federal prosecutors and a federal judge, yet he was allowed to leave the courtroom under his own power. To date Huerta Sr. has not been prosecuted for his purchase, possession, or disposition of the handgun he bought from Copeland, while Copeland is now a convicted felon.

“Instead of busting the illegal alien for buying, they bust the citizen for selling,” commented Paul Velte, attorney and founder of Peaceable Texans for Firearms Rights, a gun-owners rights advocacy group from Austin. Velte asked, “who was in a better position to know the buyer’s immigration status, the buyer or the seller?” He also said, “What happened to Paul Copeland should enrage all Americans. The Federal Government is using illegal aliens to entrap citizens lawfully exercising their right to sell firearms. The illegal alien walks free, but the citizen gets convicted. The same government charged with controlling immigration is the one using illegal immigrants to attack its own citizens. Does this make any sense? It makes no sense unless the purpose is to discourage attendance at gunshows and frighten citizens from selling their firearms to other citizens.”

Velte pointed out that “There is no way for a citizen to know who is here legally or not. In fact, under Austin’s ‘sanctuary city’ policy, not even the police officer at the door of the gunshow was allowed to ask a person’s immigration status, yet the average Texan inside the show is expected to assume that a person standing before them with a Texas driver’s license is in the country illegally just because they look Mexican and speak Spanish.” Velte noted that the federal government’s lawsuit against Arizona was based on that very type of conduct: Concluding someone could be here illegally based on their looks or their language. Velte said gun owners in his group are outraged, and they want to know:

1. Why is the illegal alien who purchased the gun, Leonel Huerta Sr., still living in Austin?
2. Why does he still have a Texas Driver’s license?
3. Why is ATF using illegal aliens to set up and convict American citizens?
4. What has he been promised for his cooperation?
5. Why has he not been prosecuted? He committed three distinct crimes: he purchased a firearm knowing he was an illegal alien, he possessed the firearm, and he transferred the handgun to another illegal alien (Hippolito Aviles, who was convicted and given time served on June 30, 2010).
6. Why has Huerta Sr. not been deported?

Judge Sparks sentenced Copeland on August 27 to six months confinement and 24 months of probation, and called Copeland “a liar” for not admitting guilt. ATF confiscated Copeland’s entire gun collection and initiated forfeiture proceedings.  Copeland was also fired from his job due to the indictment, and he would have lost his home to foreclosure, if not for his family stepping in to pay his mortgage while he serves his sentence.

These are not normal people that give distorted news & information. They are very very sick people. Talking about whether the firecracker truck is international & possible domestic terrorism w/ some inbred southern FBI terrorism expert redneck fuck-head… “But domestic terrorist would want to hit federal buildings”… and on… and on…

I’m not sure what reality most of the people in this country live in but I’m sure fuckin’ glad many of us see right through it, (often frustrated that majority of people are on a slow learning curve), but sometimes I’ll just laugh & laugh & laugh at the ease some people are lead around on a leash.

Austin suicide pilot Joe Stack kept some very interesting company as far as the client list for his software programming company is concerned, including a defense contractor with NSA and Homeland Security connections that ironically dealt with air defense systems.

The Georgetown Airport hanger in which Stack’s ill-fated Piper Cherokee was kept was jointly leased by Stack and a man called John Podolak, records show.

The Of Goats and Men blog highlights the fact that Podolak was appointed in 2004 to manage L-3 Avisys’ Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Counter-MANPADS (Man-Portable Air Defense Systems) initiative.

L-3 Avisys is a defense contractor with its main headquarters based in Austin Texas which sells products and works closely with the Department of Defense and unnamed “U.S. Government intelligence agencies”.

Podolak was hired to “oversee a strong team of more than 10 IRCM defense suppliers who will perform research studies and lead the transition of the team’s proposed CAPS (Commercial Airliner Protection System) technology to the airline industry.”

L-3 was also a key client for Stack’s software programming business. Stack helped develop a GPS-based Fight Management System for IEC, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of L-3.

L-3 was also investigated by the SEC for its role in the suspicious number of “put options” on United and American Airlines, speculation that a company’s stock will fall, in the days before 9/11.

Indeed, former NSA official Wayne Madsen wrote in September 2008 that, “A long-time L-3 Communications consultant for the National Security Agency (NSA) was, according to our source, one of the very few recipients of the live video stream that caught the first plane hitting the North Tower.”

“Other clients on the list such as DMC Stratex Networks and Sorrento Electronics also are defense contractors and probably a closer examination of these and other corporations on Stack’s client list will reveal more interesting details,” notes the blog.

The blog also highlights transponder flight tracking records of Stack’s plane which show that its last journey took place on August 6, 2009, and not on February 18 last week when the aircraft was slammed into the Echelon building.

One poster on the Prison Planet forum speculates, “This plane may still be in a hanger at GTU.”

Could Stack’s lightweight Piper Cherokee really have caused such drastic damage to the facade of the Echelon building when compared with other small planes that have crashed into buildings like that ofNew York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle?

The huge fireball reported by eyewitnesses could well have been as a result of extra fuel canisters Stack had loaded onto the plane to inflict maximum damage, but this has yet to be confirmed by authorities.

Intimate ties with defense contractors, not just through his software company, but on a personal level with L-3’s John Podolak will only serve to deepen the intrigue surrounding the motivation behind Stack’s attack on the IRS building, with scant details having emerged since the tragic incident last week.

Another startling contradiction comes in the form of Stack’s last words, which were reported by the media and apparently confirmed by audio from air traffic control tapes to be, “Thanks for your help, have a good day.”

However, audio taken from radio scanners who also recorded Stack’s last words is slightly different from that being forwarded as the official version. The second version of the audio, Stack’s final words are, “I’m definitely checking out, have a good day.”

While one eyewitness described seeing no pilot in the cockpit, another told WeAreAustin.com, “The pilot looked like he was in a comatose state; leaning back and going on in.”

Another interesting discrepancy to have emerged is the fact that Stack’s daughter told the Associated Press that Stack’s suicide note did not sound like it was written by him.

“It’s not him. The letter itself sounds like it’s coming from a different person. It didn’t sound like it came from him,” Samantha Dawn Bell told the AP.

“So some bad news today here in Austin.Very suspicious… the whole thing. Unfortunately, I got all the breaking news at work from two fuckin’ idiots on some “half-time” radio show on the classic rock station. They sounded like they were reading from a DHS fax they were sent the night before. They absolutely said at one point in the broadcast that,  ”the building’s structure was severely compromised and in danger of collapsing.” Which raised a big fat red flag. I haven’t heard that from any other news source but I haven’t been looking yet. Anyway, don’t have a handle on it yet but the whole thing stinks like Rick Perry’s dandruff. Obviously… feeling bad for anyone who was killed.”

If you look into the ideas put out by politicians like Medina or Ron Paul you could see a real palpable possibility for {{C H A N G E}} in this country. It would be better for all of America’s beautifully diverse citizens but it would be bad for corrupted politicians, corrupted media, corrupted bankers, etc….. and this is why you hear this kind of garbage from these three money queens. On February 9, 2010, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews attacked Debra Medina, who is running for Governor in Texas against Rick Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchinson. Matthews denounced Medina as a Southern racist and compared her to former vice president John C. Calhoun, a vocal defender of slavery, state’s rights and nullification. In order to make his point, Matthews quoted Martin Luther King on nullification.

Matthews’ remark is not surprising. The corporate media attack dog continually characterizes Obama’s critics, members of the Tea Party, and advocates of states’ rights as racists.

During the debate between Medina, Perry and Hutchinson, Medina clarified her stand on secession. Medina said she does not support secession and made it clear she does support nullification. In other words, she believes Texas has the right to nullify, or invalidate, any federal law which the state has deemed unconstitutional.

Medina also supports  interposition or a state’s right to protect individual interests from federal violation or any abridgment of states’ rights deemed by a state to be dangerous or unconstitutional (as established by the  Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions authored by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in opposition to the federal Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798).

It is Chris Matthews’ assigned task to slander by innuendo and characterize Medina as a racist little different than supporters of Jim Crow laws and the Black Codes of an earlier Southern era. It was no mistake Matthews dragged out an old Martin Luther King quote that dredges up painful memories of segregation and vicious racism. The exercise was intended to portray Medina as a political throwback or even a closet member of the Ku Klux Klan.

Matthews’ message (or that of his controllers) is obvious: support the Constitution and you are no different than a racist.

According to one of Matthews’ guests, nullification and interposition must be rejected out of hand because they are “freighted” with racist and nativist connotation. In other words, political correctness is more important than the Constitution.

Matthews naturally opposes the right — or as Madison declared, the duty — to resist unconstitutional federal acts. His handlers are a gaggle of elite authoritarian banksters determined to shred the last vestiges of the Constitution and impose world government on the people of the United States.

The viciousness toward defenders of the Constitution (in this instance, the Tenth Amendment) and mischaracterizations of U.S. history are now particularly hysterical because millions of Americans are finally waking up to the growing and apparently limitless predation of the federal government.

Matthews and the “liberals” (who are the flip-side to the “conservative” statists) have a pressing assignment and that is to slander and libel and portray as dangerous racist radicals defenders of the Constitution.

Meanwhile, the Republicans are assigned with the task of subverting the libertarian Tea Party movement from within by taking it over and pushing the likes of the neocon warmonger Sarah Palin into its leadership.

Two weeks ago, I wrote that the top Republican candidates for governor of Texas actually lost their nationally televised C-SPAN2 primary debate to a tea party upstart named Debra Medina. She was cool, calm, collected (and, of course, nuts).

Guess what? It happened again Friday night. This is getting fun.

Scott Brown’s shocking victory is a mixed blessing for the cause of freedom. On one hand it has put a major roadblock in the path towards Obama Care. On the other hand Scott Brown is a big government Republican. So far there are no signs that true reform is taking place in the GOP. The people in control of the party during the worst two consecutive election cycle defeats in GOP history are still in control of the leadership nationally. This is why a Debra Medina victory is a tremendous opportunity to return to the original constitutionally limited government given us by the founders. The obvious question is why is it that important for Medina to win? The answer is because Texas is that important. Texas is the flagship state of the Republican Party. The Texas GOP is the biggest in the Nation. It’s also, heavily controlled by the Bush/McCain wing. The two establishment candidates for governor represent two of the worst examples of compromised career politicians. Both Perry & Hutchson’s record are typical of out of touch elitist. Perry like Obama, repeatedly tried to cram the Trans Texas Corridor & tolling existing roads down the throats of Texans who clearly in poll after poll were against it by huge margins.The same Obama like behavior was exhibited by Senator Hutchinson in voting for TARP even though her phone lines were melted down with overwhelming opposition to TARP. Only a fool would expect either Perry or Hutchinson to be any different then they have been their entire political careers. This country will not survive with two socialist political parties. Like it or not most Republicans are really FDR Democrats. Virtually all of the New Deal is vigorously supported by and even expanded by Republicans.The GOP today is not the same GOP that fought hard to stop the government expansion during the FDR administration. Unfortunately even back then the infiltration of Progressives into the GOP had begun to transform the party. It’s that deep rooted progressive influence that has effectively neutered the Republican Party from being a true small government party. It’s for those reasons among others that underscore the huge advancement towards freedom a Medina victory would usher in. Here are some of the major gains that would occur:

1.The era of the career politician would be in serious jeopardy.The founders envisioned citizen rule not career politicians. Medina’s victory coupled with the very likely Rand Paul victory in the Senate race in Kentucky would be huge political statements in support of non-career politicians.

2. Medina’s strong 10th amendment platform is exactly the type of philosophy needed to help restore State sovereignty.Texas would become the leader in that cause.

3. Medina is a true tax reformer. Her stand on eliminating property tax will serve as a blueprint for the rest of the country to end confiscatory taxing schemes.

4. Medina’s strong 2nd amendment position will help the cause nationally. Recent news reports of Obama’s justice department shutting down Gun Shows in Texas underscores the hypocrisy of Rick Perry who has remained silent about the Federal intrusion.

The benefits of a Medina victory would go beyond those issues I’ve mentioned.The psychological benefits of encouraging frustrated small government conservatives would have a ripple effect across the country. This is why I advocate the nationalization of Debra Medina’s candidacy. Scott Brown received massive amounts of money from out of state. The two establishment candidates in Texas have a combined total of about 24 million dollars in their war chest. Medina depends on small contributions from grassroots support and can’t compete with big corporate donors. She can if grassroots efforts are expanded nationally. Debra Medina has made amazing gains with limited funding and no statewide recognition prior to the first debate. The second debate Jan 29th will very likely give her another big bump in the polls and put her in a legitimate three way race. She is no longer an impossible long shot. Most of the press around Texas has praised her debate performance and acknowledged her elevated status. This is a window of opportunity that rarely presents itself and we as patriots must spread the word about Debra Medina. I know there are important races all across the country that need support and money is tight.The good news is if we can successfully nationalize this campaign small contributions of $5 or $10 coming from across the country would make a huge difference.

An APD News press release dated January 19, 2010, offers an official explanation of the actions taken by the Austin Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) to ensure the shut down of Texas Gun Shows in central Texas. The press releases reveals that in addition to the ATF, Federal Immigration, Customs, and Enforcement (ICE) agents were involved in the conspiracy to deny Texans access to firearms at legal gun shows.

“Austin Police Department Firearm Review Unit detectives assisted in the Austin portion of the operation. They observed and participated in multiple arrests of prohibited persons (primarily convicted felons and illegal immigrants) that obtained firearms illegally at a local gun show. Federal convictions were obtained in a majority of the cases,” the press release states.

The alleged criminal activity occurred at the venue prior to Darwin Boedecker and Texas Gun Shows leasing the space. The APD, however, does not make this fact clear in the press release.

Due to the history of criminal activity at the gun show, the Nuisance Abatement Unit scheduled a meeting between the property lessee (HEB Grocery), the building sub-lessee (Andrew Perkel a.k.a Austin Market Place), the event promoter (Darwin Boedecker-Texas Gun Shows) and ATF. During this meeting, APD along with ATF offered to all parties, recommendations to curb the illegal activity that had been documented in the past. At the conclusion of the meeting the lessee agreed that the recommendations should be followed and instructed their sub-lessee to follow the recommendations. The sub-lessee then informed the event promoter to implement the recommendations at the next show.

According to the APD, Boedecker agreed to the following: 1) Only licensed gun dealers are allowed to sell firearms at the gun shows, 2) The promoter will provide on-site security to prevent parking lot gun sales, and 3) The promoter will define a process for people other than licensed dealers that show up with a gun that they want to sell.

Darwin Boedecker posted the first two of these “recommendations” at the show held on the weekend of January 16-17, 2010.

It is not illegal for private citizens in Texas to sell firearms. The demand by the ATF and Austin cops is a direct violation of the Commerce Clause (Article I, Section 8, Clause 3 of the U.S. Constitution). In addition, under the terms of the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986, individuals “not engaged in the business” of dealing firearms, or who only make “occasional” sales within their state of residence (including parking lots) are not subjected to federal regulation.

The APD subsequently used the ruse of “criminal activity” (citizens legally selling firearms) as an excuse to close down the Texas Gun Shows. “Following the staged arrest of a man by the Austin Police — subsequently released without charge — the BATF pressured lease holders HEB to shut down the oldest gun show in central Texas,” Infowars reported on January 18, 2010.

It is now obvious the shut down of Texas Gun Shows is part of a larger effort by the Obama administration to close down gun shows and deny the American people their right to buy and sell firearms.

“What’s being touted as the largest single investigation and prosecution against individuals in the history of the Justice Department’s enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act occurred Monday in Las Vegas,” writes Illinois Gun for Infowars today. “The individuals arrested are executives and employees of military and law enforcement products companies that were in Las Vegas to attend the 2010 Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show (Shot show) and are charged with violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).”

“The Justice Department called the case the largest single investigation and prosecution of individuals in the history of the 1977 Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which bars bribery of foreign government officials,” reports The Boston Herald.

The FBI operation was conducted as a sting. The individuals in question did not actually violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

The corporate media, with the exception of The Boston Herald, BusinessWeek, and firearms trade magazines, failed to report the story.

The Texas Capitol building was placed on lockdown Thursday after a man fired shots on the south steps. A call to the Texas Department of Public Safety by the Alex Jones Show identified the suspect as a 24-year old man from Houston.

“His name has not yet been released to the public, and a motive for the shooting was not immediately known,” MyFox Houston later reported.

State Senator Dan Patrick posted on his Twitter account that the man had entered his office at the Capitol prior to the shooting incident. “An individual came into my Austin Senate office today acting strangely, staff called security, moments later shots fired on Capitol steps,” Patrick wrote. It is not known if the man acting strangely in Patrick’s office was the same man who fired the shots moments later.

A witness on the scene said she heard police say there might be another suspect on the building’s third floor, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Alex Jones said on his nationally syndicated radio show today he believes it is highly suspicious the police did not shoot the man. Police commonly take out individuals firing weapons and endangering the public, especially at government buildings.

The shooting may be used as an excuse to install naked body scanners at the Capitol, Jones said. In 2008, authorities installed a body scanner at a courthouse in Castle Rock, Colorado. Earlier this month, a man went on a shooting rampage at a federal courthouse in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A small firestorm erupted in the gun-owner community in Texas this past weekend. Visitors to the Austin gun show were met with this flier:

APD and the ATF have no statutory authority to threaten Darwin and order him around like they did. Two of Darwin’s biggest vendors canceled and he expects attendance to be down by over 50% next month. This guy needs our support. He is a 2nd Amendment supporter and is running a family business. The ATF and APD are basically destroying his business with their unlawful “suggestions”. Nothing that he is doing is illegal. He is not charged with any crime, but the police are unlawfully threatening outside a court to literally shut down his business unless he does what they want. He said that he will not be able to stay in business if this continues. If you are around Austin, we need to go to the next show February 20/21 and not let them kill the Austin gun show. If you are not in Texas, be vigilant for the ATF and local police trying to do this in your town.

The police also made a big scene at the gun show to intimidate people. A vendor was placed in handcuffs by APD and lead through the crowd for everyone to see. He was taken outside but was later released and not arrested. Boedeker said he believes this stunt was preformed in order to intimidate gun buyers and scare people away.

In case of danger, Republican gubernatorial hopeful Debra Medina legally totes a 9 mm pistol (with a 16-round magazine) in a zippered case in her car.

But she doesn’t want a license to carry it elsewhere.

The Wharton businesswoman favors repealing the Texas concealed handgun law, saying it shouldn’t be government’s job to license and regulate guns.

This protégé of libertarian-leaning U.S. Rep. Ron Paul is no sheep.

She told me that decriminalizing marijuana deserves a look. The mother of two home-schooled children, now grown, also sounded skeptical of the state mandate that children attend school.

Medina said she voted for Republican George W. Bush for president but not for the GOP’s 2008 presidential choice, U.S. Sen. John McCain (or Democrat Barack Obama).

“That’s one of the biggest mistakes Republicans make: Close your eyes, hold your nose and vote for the guy with the ‘R’ beside his name regardless of what he stands for and what he does,” she said.

Making her first race for public office, Medina is chasing well-known, well-funded foes Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Barring upheaval, she won’t catch them.

Still, she could keep one from drawing more than half the March 2 primary vote. She’d then get credit for causing their April runoff preceded by loads of high-dollar advertising.

Historically, long shots don’t win because they’re overlooked and ignored. Of late, Medina has complained of being left out of debate plans.

But her fans take heart from 2006, when secession advocate Larry Kilgore drew 7.6 percent of the vote in the GOP gubernatorial primary and two others together got 8.1 percent, holding Perry to 84 percent.

Medina hinted that she hopes to overtake Hutchison in the primary before besting Perry in a runoff.

Who knows? Medina’s signature idea — replacing property taxes with sales taxes — might stir voters, though the envisioned shift would be a hard sell to legislators.

Analyst Dick Lavine of the Center for Public Policy Priorities estimates the 6.25 percent state sales tax would need to double to replace the $14 billion in property taxes collected to support public schools and make up for a probable drop in retail spending.

Lavine wonders too how school boards lacking property taxes might raise money.

Medina said boards could ask voters to OK higher sales taxes — a prospect giving districts reason to fight for keeping property taxes.

Medina generally advocates fresh leadership, saying: “There seems to be a lot of slop in state government.”

Spoken like a mama, the pistol-packing kind.

Patriots, if you are reading this, you know well the importance of being able to effectively spread the liberty message. Some of Goldman Sach’s biggest shareholders are demanding that executive compensation be reduced. As the Wall Street Journal notes:

Their complaints in private conversations with the company and at analyst meetings show how anger over its big-money culture is spilling into the ranks of investors who typically shy away from debates over Wall Street pay.

If you don’t think that more – bigger – protests are coming, you haven’t been paying attention.

Debtor’s Revolt

Debtors are revolting against exorbitant interest rates and fees and other aggressive tactics by the too big to fail banks. See this, this, and this.

Congresswoman Kaptur advises her constituents facing foreclosure to demand that the original mortgage papers be produced. She says that – if the bank can’t produce the mortgage papers – then the homeowner can stay in the house.

Portfolio manager and investment advisor Marshall Auerback argues that a debtor’s revolt would be a good thing.

And even popular personal finance advisor Suze Orman is highlighting the debtors revolt phenomenon on her national tv show.

Congress Is Starting to Get the Message

The American people are shouting so loud at their congress members and Senators, that even some of the most pro-Wall Street congressman are starting to get it.

For example, the Congressional Black Caucus has been hearing so much about how congress is failing to address the crisis of unemployment from their constituents, that the CBC delayed Barney Frank’s proposed financial reform.

The House Financial Services Committee received so many phone calls from constituents that it approved the Ron Paul/Alan Grayson bill to audit the Fed and defeated the trojan horse alternate bill written by Mel Watt. Indeed, I have heard from congressional sources that the only calls to support the Watt alternate bill were from the Fed itself. And see this.

The Committee also approved Congressman Grayson’s bill to rein in foreign currency swaps.

Both Geithner and Summers are coming under increasing pressure to resign due to their being in bed with Wall Street.

Even Bernanke’s re-appointment is no longer certain.

And Obama’s approval ratings have now dipped below 50%, largely due to his mishandling of the economic crisis.

As Congressman Peter DeFazio notes:

There were a lot of Democrats who were “upset and nervous with” the handling of the economy by the administration.

“It is pretty embarrassing for a Democratic administration and a Democratic Congress to be identified with total attention to Wall Street and nothing for Main Street and jobs,” he said. “There are a lot of Democrats who… want to see something more effective done to create employment.”

DeFazio insisted that President Obama and, by extension, the Democratic Party were hampered by Geithner’s policies for economic recovery. He pointed to the inability of the administration to spur small business lending and the lack of effective TARP oversight as particularly egregious examples of mismanagement. More than anything else, the Oregon Democrat deemed it untenable for the president to continue employing his current economic team given the taint of Wall Street that clings to many of those advisers.

“I have had a number of people say to me, ‘I feel the same way you do but I’m not going to say it.’ People are worried it will rub off on the president who still enjoys popularity,” he said. “I tell them I still support the president. I just think he is being poorly served by his economic team.”

“The truth of the matter,” DeFazio added, “is that we have not changed the way the money is being used. It is not being used for the purpose it was supposed to be used for. We are not creating jobs and we have not aggressively taken on the culture of Wall Street”…

One of his chief concerns was that the president appeared enamored with the lords of finance. “The administration has, thus far, not threaded the needle here,” he said. “They have taken care of Wall Street but not the rest of the country.”

In a CNN segment airing today, Jim Acosta assures us there are no FEMA detention camps and Obama will not take away the guns of law-abiding Americans.

CNN continues its well-oiled propaganda campaign against the patriot movement with a segment on the Oath Keepers. CNN’s Jim Acosta profiles the organization’s founder, Stewart Rhodes, nearly a month after MSNBC attack dog Chris Matthews had him on his show and attempted to portray the Oath Keepers as a radical organization of crazed radicals that poses a threat to the nation.

Acosta is somewhat more gentle in his presentation, but the message is analogous to the one presented by Matthews — Rhodes and the Oath Keepers are dangerous, particularly in regard to U.S. military personnel. The CNN segment cites the Department of Homeland Security’s report on supposed “rightwing extremism” warning that veterans and active duty soldiers may fall under the sway of white supremacists — who we are told hate Obama because of his skin color — and dangerous anti-government militants.

In order to drive home the looming threat of the Oath Keepers, the CNN piece contains an interview with Mark Potok, propaganda minister of the Southern Poverty Law Center. Potok, who habitually makes the rounds on MSNBC and CNN, tells Acosta the Oath Keepers are “exploiting false rumors found on fringe websites” such as Infowars and Prison Planet (although Acosta and Potok do not mention Alex Jones’ flagship websites by name).

Acosta, however, does mention Alex Jones’ latest documentary, Fall of the Republic, which he characterizes as an “anti-Obama” film. In fact, Fall of the Republic downplays the importance of Barack Obama and documents his role as a front-man for the global elite and the bankster cartel. Acosta and CNN attempt to forge a link between Fall of the Republic and the Oath Keepers promise to obey and protect the Constitution, not a particular president.

At the end of the segment, CNN tells us there is “no proof” of detention camps or a plan by the government to outlaw weapons.

As Infowars and Prison Planet have documented on numerous occasions, there is indeed evidence of government detention camps. Legislation currently working through Congress mandates the establishment of “national emergency centers” to be located on military installations. As Steve Wastonnoted in March, the purpose of such facilities is to provide “temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due to an emergency or major disaster,” the expansion of which under FEMA is codified under HR 645, otherwise known as the National Emergency Centers Act.

In 2006, the Army Corps of Engineers awarded a contract worth up to $385 million to build “temporary immigration detention centers” to Kellogg Brown & Root, a Halliburton subsidiary. The camps were built for the Department of Homeland Security.

“The real agenda, just as it is with Halliburton’s gulags, [under the government's Rex 84 and numerous other programs is] to use the cover of rounding up immigrants and illegal aliens as a smokescreen for targeting political dissidents. From 1967 to 1971 the FBI kept a list of persons to be rounded up as subversive, dubbed the ‘ADEX’ list,” writes Watson. The ADEX list no longer exists — in recent years, it was replaced by a sprawling terrorist database that contains the names of well over a million Americans.

The claim that the Obama administration and its Democrat allies are not working to outlaw guns for law-abiding Americans is a lie countered by an avalanche of evidence. According to Alan Korwin, author of Gun Laws of America, Obama’s attorney general, Eric Holder, wrote a brief in the District of Columbia Heller case supporting the position that Americans have no right to possess working firearms.

Last week the Obama administration signaled it intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for Americans through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations.”By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms,” explains Real Conservatives. The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position of the Bush administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better, according to Reuters.

In November of 2008, before Obama was selected, Infowars documented his long history of opposition to the Second Amendment. Obama was on the board of the anti-gun Joyce Foundation, the largest funding source for radical anti-gun groups in the country. In 1996, he supported a ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns. He proposed a 500 percent increase in the excise taxes on firearms and ammunition. In 2003, Obama voted in support of legislation that would have banned privately owned hunting shotguns, target rifles and black powder rifles in Illinois. In 2004, he voted against legislation intended to protect homeowners from prosecution in cases where they used a firearm to halt a home invasion.

Earlier today, Alex Jones and Paul Joseph Watson wrote about an ADL campaign to demonize Jones and portray him as a menace. “The tone of the ADL’s hit piece basically implies that Alex Jones and his ilk are such a threat to the establishment that they should be removed from society, which ironically is exactly how Hitler dealt with his political enemies in Nazi Germany. The ADL is allegorically pinning a yellow star on ‘conspiracy theorists,’ Oath Keepers, Tea Party protesters, and anyone else who dares express dissent in response to the financial looting of the country or Barack Obama’s big government agenda,” Jones and Watson wrote.

CNN and MSNBC, in league with the government, are determined to wipe out or at best hobble the patriot movement through mischaracterization, innuendo, and outright lies. CNN’s “series” on the “militia movement” — and the Oath Keepers is not a militia, as Rhodes noted — is only an opening chapter in the frontal assault of the elite’s ongoing war against truth and the First Amendment.

To ensure professional and sanitary conditions for drawing blood, the Austin City Council voted unanimously for a resolution Thursday to prohibit Austin Police Department officers from performing blood draws.

The resolution says the healthy and accurate collection of blood specimens requires specialized health training and ongoing yearly medical evaluations. Approved blood draw technicians must have experience drawing blood on a daily basis in controlled public health settings with emergency health services nearby.

In July 2008, APD Chief Art Acevedo expressed interest in training police officers to draw blood from suspected drunk drivers if they refused to take a Breathalyzer  test. He claimed it would save taxpayers because the officer would be present during court proceedings to give testimony on both the stop and the blood draw itself.

In March, Acevedo called for 50 officers to take a 40-hour blood drawing course.

“Blood draws, basically, are for the police department to follow the law to obtain physical evidence so they can adjudicate a case in court,” said APD Chief of Staff David Carter.

The concern was in the Austin Police Department training officers to actually draw blood. There are no plans to do that, and we are not doing that at this time, not at all.”

Carter said the issue began when the Travis County Jail was no longer able to accommodate blood draws requested by APD because of a shortage of resources.

Assistant Chief Al Eells said hospitals such as Brackenridge were also problematic locations for blood draws because busy hospitals might not be able to draw samples in a timely manner. Eells said the collection of blood samples for the prosecution of a DWI case is dependent on the time it takes to retrieve the sample, due to the metabolization rate of alcohol.

“The main thing we want to accomplish is to be able to conduct business certainly in a legal way and the most efficient way and have a process in place to do that,” Eells said.

Whether we are using trained professionals that are within the jail, which may be an option again, we are just going to look for the best way to accomplish the job and get it done.”

Eells said that during interlocal agreement discussions with the Travis County Jail,  APD proposed using trained technicians to draw blood. Travis County would provide the sanitary spaces for the draw.

He said blood draws are not new to investigative proceedings and that APD would continue to obtain subpoenas and search warrants approved by magistrates.

During the council meeting, advocacy groups appeared in support of the resolution and proposed preventive measures to drunk driving.

“There is a lot of debate going on about the efficacy of [blood draw programs],” said John Bush, Texans for Accountable Government director. “We are not seeing a significant decrease in harm reduction and I define harm reduction as a net decrease in fatalities or accidents or injuries that occur as a result of drunk driving.”

Bush said he supports the city manager researching and preparing blood specimen collection alternatives and alternative preventive measures such as the square patrol program that provides designated drivers for Austin residents.

“I absolutely believe there are practical solutions to this $85 million-a-year problem,” said Shawn Fernando, director of Square Patrol, a local start-up that offers rides home to drunk Austinites. “I believe that with ingenuity and a commonality of purpose we can benefit this city and more importantly we can save lives.”

In a hit piece that appears in The New Republic magazine, a publication owned by the ultra-rich Asper Bilderberg family, author Michelle Goldberg has trouble comprehending why Alex Jones has fans on both the left and right of the political spectrum, ascribing it not to the fact that Jones is interested in pursuing truth over partisanship, but to the claim that he is a “purveyor of paranoia”.

The New Republic apparently postures as a neo-liberal outfit yet is edited by neo-cons and peddles statist and pro-war propaganda on a regular basis. Indeed, an article currently running on its front page argues against having transparency in government.

TNR is wholly owned by CanWest Global Communications, a corporate megalith which has flouted laws in Canada that govern foreign ownership limits by virtually monopolizing media in the country. CanWest is owned by the ultra-elite Asper family, for whom Israel Asper was a key Bilderberg attendeeuntil his death in 2003. The Asper family have been multi-generational Israeli-firsters whose many media fronts serve as propaganda organs for the Zionist state.

According to Media Matters, “The bad news for TNR staffers is that CanWest’s recent history is littered with lawsuits, gag orders, and byline strikes, buffered by a steady stream of columnists, reporters, and editors who complain CanWest actively censors its employees who stray from the company’s conservative, pro-war, pro-Israel blueprint.”

By aggressively enforcing such political bias and targeting anyone who strays outside such parameters, “CanWest has spawned a culture of fear and self-censorship among journalists,” according to Haroon Siddiqui, a columnist for the Toronto Star.

Obviously being fully aware of these, shall we say ‘guidelines,’ and the fact that her paymasters are servants of Bilderberg and Israel, surprise surprise, author Michelle Goldberg wastes little time in attacking Alex Jones for taking on….you guessed it…..Bilderberg and Israel!

She starts off by taking a sophomoric sideswipe at Jones for bullhorning Asper’s cherished Bilderberg Group during its 2006 conference in Ottawa Canada.

However, in smearing him as an anti-semite by bizarrely comparing Jones’Obama Deception DVD to The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion, Goldberg fails to address Alex Jones’ regularly uttered thought crime of pointing out that Israel has hundreds of nukes while Iran is being threatened and targeted over its “nuclear weapons program” despite the fact that the independent IAEA as well as the CIA says it doesn’t have one, instead she actually implies that Jones hates Jews because he states that Obama is just the front man for an international cabal of global elitists.

Apparently, in Goldberg’s peculiar world, merely talking about the demise of the dollar, the move towards global government, Israel’s desire to attack Iran, the North American Union or any form of government corruption whatsoever equates to racism, craziness and fringe thinking. Even as the IMF, the G20 and the UN openly announce a global currency, a new world economic order and a system of global governance, in Goldberg’s view, to merely mention the fact is a manifestation of Jones’ “unhinged” mind.

Of course, by making everything about Jews and anti-Semitism, Goldberg is dutifully playing her role as the race pimp in an effort to try and invoke the age-old cliched stereotype of the right-wing extremist and portray Jones as a white supremacist hatemonger, when in reality we spend half our time trying to avoid race and are routinely chastised for doing so by white supremacists themselves.

Miss Goldberg, is there no end to your cynicism? Don’t you know that constantly invoking anti-semitism as a means of smearing your political adversaries doesn’t work any longer? Perhaps the rapidly declining circulation figures of The New Republic should offer some clue to attest to this fact?

Desperate attempts at race pimping as a means to get us all at each other’s throats is so 1990’s. When will you realize that your lame demonization techniques no longer have any effect on a reader with two brain cells left to rub together?

Goldberg attempts to savage Jones by labeling him “the next Glenn Beck,” while ignoring the fact that Beck is a corporate shill and a performing circus act who cries on command and holds political views that are almost entirely diametrically opposite to those of Alex Jones. Indeed, Beck has attacked Jones both directly and indirectly on his show for years while at the same time mimicking his style to lull deluded conservatives into thinking he represents some kind of genuine grass roots figure, when in fact he has vehemently supported every major government assault on freedom under both Bush and Obama, from the war on Iraq to the Patriot Act to the banker bailout.

The majority of Goldberg’s hit piece consists of her simply reprinting Jones’ statements as if she thinks that alone will discredit him in the eyes of the reader. The problem being that all of these statements are manifestly provable, and Goldberg’s hope that the reader will share her reflex reaction of denial only ends up making her look naive and foolish.

Yes, there are laws on the books that allow the government to set up martial law in the event of a mass pandemic, yes there is a plan for a North American Union, yes the White House science czar John Holdren did advocate putting sterilants in the water in his own book. All of these things are self-evident and documented, not part of the warped world that Goldberg attempts to pigeon hole Jones within.

Indeed, it is Goldberg that remains locked in a twilight zone of delusion, and her distaste at the fact that more and more people on both sides of the political spectrum are escaping from that skewed world view and listening to Alex Jones is betrayed by her zealous but shockingly weak effort to smear him with all the tools at her disposal – guilt by association, sophomoric cliches, race pimping, and contrived invocations.

It all adds up to a massive failure and just another indication that mega-media titans such as CanWest, through their subsidiaries like The New Republic, are furious that Jones is breaking through the electronic Berlin Wall of the corporate media and inspiring more and more individuals to dump the mainstream and find the real alternative, not Glenn Beck, not right or left-wing partisanship, but someone who actually tries to get past race, get past political hackery, and communicate the truth of what is unfolding – the takeover of the planet by private banking and corporate interests that are openly centralizing power into a dictatorial system of world government.

No matter what you think of Alex Jones, this fact remains, and no amount of smear attacks or hit pieces crafted by the very progenitors of this political agenda are going to prevent the people from seeing what is unfolding around them as it is openly announced on the news almost every single day.

Jones’ increasing credibility across the political spectrum is born out of the fact that his output is not dictated by a giant transnational corporation owned by ultra-elitists with deep Bilderberg connections whose role it is to act as apologists and warmongers for the state of Israel, and in turn the United States government.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for The New Republic, which is owned and controlled by those very interests.
